My thoughts:
I have read a lot of books in the Harlequin Heartwarming line and while they have all been good, I have to say that this book is one of my favorites. I absolutely adored Brooke Ellis plus anytime an animal is written into a storyline, I'm completely enamored of any and all of the furry little creatures.
My heart just ached for Brooke as she suddenly finds herself homeless due to wildfire but just as quickly my heart soared a tiny bit when the kind and gentle Rick Sawyer offers her (and her fur babies) a ride and a place to stay.
Of course the home that's offered to her belongs to Rick's son, Dan who is facing some challenges of his own.
I fell in love with Brooke, Dan and his young son, Ben. They were a pure joy to meet and I honestly felt like I was meeting them. That is how realistic the author wrote her characters. There are plenty of secondary characters that I would like to get better acquainted with, too. I hope that there will be more books in this series because I am ready to return to City By The Bay. Although this isn't the first book in the series, it was fine to read as a stand-alone novel but I certainly do not want to miss out on any other book that may be part of the series.
Overall, this truly was a heartwarming read with a wonderful storyline that flowed at a perfect pace. The characters are compelling and for those reasons, I highly recommend, Single Dad to the Rescue.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received through Prism Book Tours. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.
